Why NEX RUN Exists

PICKUP BASKETBALL
IS GONE.
WE BROUGHT IT BACK.

⚠ What Happened to the Game
AAU took over. And it's not the same as pickup.
Pickup basketball built generations of great players. You showed up. You played. You made mistakes in real game situations with real consequences — getting scored on, turning it over, missing the shot that lost the game. That pressure is what built real players.

AAU is structured to the point where some coaches don't play you. Some programs are more money grab than development. And even the good ones can't replace what pickup does — the freedom to fail, make reads, compete, and figure things out without a coach calling every play.

That environment is what we grew up on. It's what Coach Warren grew up on. And it's mostly gone. NEX RUN brings it back — organized, supervised, with the right structure to make it safe and competitive without killing the spirit of the game.
AAU
The Problem
Over-structured — coaches control every possession
Can cost thousands per season
Playing time not guaranteed
Travel, hotels, tournaments — the money never stops
No room to just play and figure it out
VS
NEX RUN
The Answer
Real games — pickup, structured, and league formats
Always free — funded by Ctrl+Alt+Del Project Reset
Everyone plays — no sitting on the bench for politics
Supervised and organized — but not over-coached
Where Hoopology skills meet real competition
The Three Formats

THREE WAYS
TO RUN.

NEX RUN isn't one thing. Depending on the session, one of three formats runs — each one serving a different purpose in player development.

01
Open Run
Pure Pickup
Teams get picked. Ball goes up. Game 7 energy. Sometimes a coach jumps in and guides. Sometimes it's pure open run — no structure imposed, just basketball the way it was meant to be played. Every player gets run. Every player earns their spot on the court.

02
Structured Run
Play the Play
This is where game development gets tested. You have to run a play — a horns action, a corner action, a pick and roll, a give and go. Whatever is called, you execute it in a live game situation. Did you learn it in Youth Game Development? Now prove it. Does it actually work when someone's guarding you?

All the skills. All the training. Now it means something.

You can spend a year in Skill Lab and get 800 skills checked off. You can do Personal Training and get your weaknesses fixed. You can learn every play in Youth Game Development. But until you take all of that into a real game against real competition — you don't really know if it works. NEX RUN is where it gets proven.

Why It's Free

FREE IS THE
WHOLE POINT.

NEX RUN is completely free — not as a promotional gimmick but because it serves two real purposes that make the whole Hoopology ecosystem work.

01
For New Families
A parent brings their kid to NEX RUN. They watch their kid play. They see their kid struggle to make a read, miss open shots, get confused running a play. That's the moment they realize their player needs Skill Lab, Personal Training, or Youth Game Development. NEX RUN creates the "aha moment" — no sales pitch needed.
02
For Hoopology Members
Our players need somewhere to apply what they're learning. You can't do skill work forever with no games. NEX RUN is the game environment where Hoopology kids take their training and test it — without going outside the program to AAU or random pickup games. They stay in the ecosystem. They stay getting better.
Funded by Ctrl+Alt+Del Project Reset Inc.
NEX RUN is made possible by Ctrl+Alt+Del Project Reset Inc. — the Bronx-based nonprofit co-founded by Coach Warren Bunkley and Coach Will Sadek-Arthur. The nonprofit's mission is prevention first — giving young people the structure, supervision, and environment they need before they need rescue. NEX RUN is basketball. But it's also community.

Common Questions

BEFORE YOU
REGISTER.

Is NEX RUN really free?
+
Yes — completely free. All three formats, including NEX RUN NYC with jerseys, clock, and referees. The cost is covered by Ctrl+Alt+Del Project Reset Inc., the nonprofit co-founded by Coach Warren and Coach Will. There is no registration fee, no participation fee, and no hidden costs.
Do I need to be a Hoopology member to play?
+
No. NEX RUN is open to the community — members and non-members alike. That's part of the point. If your player has never trained with us, NEX RUN is the best introduction. Come play, see the environment, and if it's the right fit, explore the programs from there.
What ages can play in NEX RUN?
+
NEX RUN is designed for youth players. Sessions are age-group organized so younger players aren't competing against older ones. Reach out when registering and we'll make sure your player is in the right group.
What's the difference between NEX RUN and NEX RUN NYC?
+
NEX RUN is the regular organized pickup program — open run and structured run formats that run throughout the year. NEX RUN NYC is the 6-week league — jerseys, clock, referees, four teams, standings. Think of NEX RUN as the weekly game and NEX RUN NYC as the season. Both are free.
How does NEX RUN connect to the other Hoopology programs?
+
It's the top of the ecosystem. Skill Lab builds individual skills. Personal Training fixes specific weaknesses. Youth Game Development teaches concepts. NEX RUN is where all of it gets applied in real competition. Players who do all four are the most complete players we develop.
